I’m very interested in this, too. Eva’s critical remarks about her own and other women’s bodies made me feel sad and even alienated from her. It’s not a pleasant perspective to look out from.

How closely does your history link with that of metaphysical and the history of New Mexico used in your story?
I guess this is silly, but I lived in Texas (south of Houston) and can never recall Bluebonnets blooming in October or November. At least, certainly in huge numbers. Was there some sort of symbolism meant by the flowers?
I enjoyed reading this book, but the mention of bluebonnets in November brought me right out of that enjoyable state of mind. Why make such a big mistake? Yes, I live in Texas.

Did you intend to make Eva a person that many of your readers would struggle with, particularly regarding her excessive alcohol consumption and jumping into bed with Sammy, while her kids stayed at home?

Have you had personal experiences with brujeria and cuaranderia? Do you think you may share traits with witches and cuaranderos or have visions? I myself, know I have a sixth sense that could be seen as symptoms of brujeria.
Traditionally practioners of Magick etc are people with little power with mainstream society. For multiple reasons from established Patriarchy restrictions of strong Churches racism etc groups are forced into realms of paranormal to finde rootwork of “normal” lives. We want to believe in inherited Indigenous powers etc but isnt all of that belief again based in being shut out of society? Would you chose to ever bring that economic–maybe even Marxist!!!–reality into your stories to balance out all the paranormal influences?
