I would consider this a sci-fi novel, although AI is now a reality. Many of the ideas in the book are actively being developed and are also likely to be reality in the near future.
It was science fiction but differed from many sci fi books in that it was actually taking a lot of stuff from human behaviour as it is today and simply transplanting it into a world that had achieved more advanced technology but actually despite this remained mired in most of the difficult social problems that exist today.
For ease of categorisation I would say sci-fi. I tend to avoid this genre unless there is also political/social commentary in it.
